Mathe macht lustig

Cartoon exhibition

Mathematics and humor sounds like hot and cold, like day and night, like plus and minus. Mathematics is often seen as abstract and humorless and in danger of losing contact with "normal" life.

And yet mathematics can be approached in a way that is fun and encourages laughter. The exhibition "Mathe macht lustig" (Math makes you laugh) shows how this can be done and is on display at the MAINS until January 16, 2022 (closed December 20, 2021–January 5, 2022). Top cartoonists from Germany, Austria and Switzerland take a humorous look at mathematics in numerous cartoons and contribute a positive and cheerful image of mathematics with their wonderful works.

"Mathe macht lustig" is a German language exhibition from the Mathematikum Gießen and the caricatura museum Frankfurt.

Guided tours every Sunday 3 p.m.
